Question:

Soon be to finishing mine, but what options ie, Nav, deep, did you all choose and why?

I am trying to decide which would best but the difference between being a practical choice or i suppose a easier choice have got me pondering.

So i open the forum to you all.

Which did you opt for and why?

Chris (who has actually now attended a club night!)

Hi Chris,
I am not sure if we have met as yet, my name is Kev Radcliffe or usually called 'Cake' by most. I am a divemaster for the divezone and help out in the shop and the club.

On my advanced i did: wreck dive-underwater navigation-peak performance buoyancy-drift dive and a deep dive.

Reasons:
I planned on diving wrecks in the future so wanted to experience it soon as i could, and as i was a new diver at the time peak performance buoyancy seemed one of the more obvious options, and the drift dive sounded great fun in which it was.
I recall nav and deep being mandatory for the advanced, i will check that.

I did my advanced at portland, Fathom and blues with mark who is now director of The Divezone, was a superb day. The viz was not too good but was great fun diving of a rib for the first time and checking out one of the wrecks. Viz on the drift dive was very good slowly flying over and through kelp beds was amazing and catching a glance at the odd fish.

So generally they are all good options depending on the nature of diving you intend on doing.
I hope i have been of some help to you in your choices and i am sure you will enjoy whatever you choose to do.

See you maybe at the next club night and stay in touch for up and coming opportunities to dive with us in the U.k or abroad.

Cake :D

I was thinking about Nav and PPB! as Andy can vouch for, when doing my Dry suit spec i seemed to float a bit too easily when doing my ascent!

I have done one slow drift dive abroad and did very much enjoy that although i think new fins might be in order to prevent cramps lol!

Why cant i do it all!

I attended the last club night and will be attending the next :D

Thanks for the insight, its deff helping with the decision making!

Cheers

Chris

Hi Chris

I would like to second Cakes' additional training, all will be usefull and a good way to improve your diving. You should be able to go to 30 meters with your deep dive. Lesley and I did two courses in Cyprus ( like the wrarmth) Deep dive to 40m and EANx (Nitrox) The deep dive was excellent as it re-enforced close buddying computer checks and why? Deco stops if required. EANx was done to give us a further option on extended bottom time, should we want to. Will be very handy for the Liveaboard in September.

Thanks for your comments on The Zenobia.

See you on club night.

Liam
